There is no question Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are the main two reasons the Brooklyn Nets will reach their championship goals in the 2022 NBA Playoffs. But according to Charles Barkley, they'll also be the downfall of the Nets because the team is far too reliant on them.

Via NBA on TNT:

Does Barkley have a point? Probably. But, the likes of Seth Curry, Goran Dragic, Nic Claxton, and others are important to the Nets' success. That being said, if the star duo doesn't show out, it's hard to see Steve Nash's squad going all the way.

For example in Game 1 against the Celtics, Kyrie erupted for a game-high 39 points while also flipping off the bitter Boston fans in the process. KD however, was held to just 23 points on 9 for 24 shooting from the field. Yes, very unlike him. Brooklyn literally lost on a buzzer-beater layup as well. Could've been a different outcome if the Slip Reaper played like his usual self.

To be honest, though, the Nets' title dreams would feel more real if Ben Simmons returned. It's no secret they're poor defensively and he could instantly help on that end of the floor, never mind his ability to open up shooters.

Let's hope Charles Barkley doesn't end up being right. The Nets will look to even up the series at one on Tuesday.
