Everyone is on pins and needles to see where the Brooklyn Nets will trade Kevin Durant. It has generated a ton of buzz for the team as well as the NBA as a whole. Recently, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was asked about star players requesting trades and his answer was all about the buzz.

Players not being loyal to their organizations and joining superteams has been a highly debated topic within the NBA in recent years. According to Heavy's Steve Bulpett, the Mavs owner sees the landscape changing:

“I think it's happening less. I think some of the old school guys are still in that mode, but the younger guys… I can't comment on any one player, but you're seeing some of the younger guys sign extensions with no player options.”

So perhaps a major change is on the horizon. However, as for the superstar players still making trade requests, like Kevin Durant, Cuban had an interesting take:

“You know what? You've got to separate reality from talk, right? When a guy's got three or four years left, the team's got the choice.”

This is technically true. In Durant's situation, the Nets have some leverage because his contract isn't up until 2026.

Overall, the Mavs owner isn't fretting about the current state of the league with stars jumping teams. In fact, he doesn't seem to mind all the hype around these situations, saying “it's a good thing” when people talk about the NBA.

With that said, keep an eye on the Nets and Kevin Durant. A trade could come to fruition at any moment. Even so, considering Brooklyn has some leverage, the front office is likely to take its time. Meanwhile, other franchises, like the Mavs, are keeping tabs on the situation as well.
