The future of Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant is one of the hottest topics in basketball today. One narrative that has now come up pertains to how Durant is putting importance on how his decision this summer makes him look.

According to Ian Begley of SNY, Durant does not want to seem like someone who just followed another star to their new team:

Something worth noting on Durant: several executives monitoring the Durant situation don't believe Durant would be interested in being seen as someone who followed another player to a team. Assuming Brooklyn agrees quickly to a deal with Irving and Durant and did so subsequently, the narrative could be shaped that Durant was following Irving to Brooklyn.

As explained by Begley above, this is be something the Brooklyn Nets must take into serious consideration. Timing appears to be extremely important for Durant, so he allegedly cannot come second. On the other hand, we don't know if Kyrie Irving feels the same way, and at the end of the day, this minor detail might turn out to be a major turning point on any potential deal.

If this issue does indeed cause any problem with Durant's potential move to Brooklyn, then this would be a great opportunity for any other team to pounce. The New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers are also in the Kevin Durant lottery. His current team, the Warriors, also remain in the mix, so this could be something they could end up capitalizing on.
