Brooklyn Nets guard D'Angelo Russell has been a stud this season, and he knows it.

The former second overall pick believes that he deserves to be an All-Star this season due to his stellar play as the leader of the Nets, who are currently in the mix for a playoff spot in the East:

Russell's confidence is through the roof right now, especially after he torched the Boston Celtics to lead the Nets to a 109-102 victory over one of last season's Eastern Conference finalists. Russell had a scintillating shooting performance, finishing with 34 points on 13-of-26 shooting, making seven 3-pointers and adding five rebounds and seven assists.

It also certainly helps the four-year man out of Ohio State that the Nets are in the East, since the West is more packed with a plethora of superior talent at the guard positions.

Still, this shouldn't undermine the fact that Russell deserves to appear in the Sunday night special in Charlotte on Feb. 17.

The sweet-shooting floor general is in the midst of a breakout season after struggling with consistency in his first three years in the league. Without a doubt, Russell is a confident guy, as he said in the interview, and this has translated well into his play this season.

In 44 games this season, Russell is averaging career highs in points (18.7) and assists (6.3). He is also having his most efficient season thus far with a 43-36-81 shooting split, all of which are also career-best marks.

D'Angelo Russell looks to continue thriving in his role as the leader of this young Nets squad that is looking to break a three-year playoff drought.
