Kevin Durant is looking forward to a fresh start with the Brooklyn Nets, and the superstar forward will be wearing a new jersey number with his new team.

Durant announced that he will be ditching the No. 35 he wore during his stints with the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Golden State Warriors. The 30-year-old took to Twitter to reveal that he will be wearing No. 7 when he begins his career with the Nets.

In a post on Thirty Five Ventures, Durant said that he will have a lot of memories with No. 35, looking back at his childhood, his collegiate career, and achieving his dream to play in the league. The two-time NBA Finals MVP also said that he will not forget the bond and brotherhood associated with that jersey number.

Durant ended his three-year stint with the Warriors after agreeing to sign a four-year, $164 million contract with the Nets. The deal was made possible via a sign-and-trade agreement with the Warriors, who eventually acquired D'Angelo Russell in the process.

“As I start this new chapter in my basketball life, the number I'll be wearing on my back is the number 7 next time you see me on the floor,” Durant said. “One Time Brooklyn.”

Durant is recovering from an Achilles surgery. The Nets have no timetable for his return, but the injury he sustained in Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals could keep him out for the rest of the 2019-20 NBA season.
