Just like everyone else, Aaron Gordon of the Orlando Magic did not expect Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant to choose the Brooklyn Nets over the New York Knicks.

Gordon thought that the two top free agents of the summer were heading to the Knicks. After all, the team did clear up some cap space enough to absorb two max players. In addition, they were favored to get the top pick in the draft. But as things developed, got the number three pick, which was a still decent position to be in. But from Gordon's point of view, not getting the number one pick was a big factor Irving and Durant's decision.

“I thought they were going to go to the Knicks, but they didn’t get the No. 1 pick,” Gordon said, per Ben Stinar of Amico Hoops.

The Nets — considered as the other team in New York — is now the team to watch out for. It seemed that everyone forgot how great their season was last year. With just one All-Star and a bunch of reliable and solid role players, the Nets finished sixth in the East with a 42-40 record. It was a tangible sign that the Nets already have the right pieces in place. With the addition of Durant and Irving — they just got even better.
