The Brooklyn Nets are staying active in the offseason. According to a report from Michael Scotto of The Athletic, former University of North Carolina swingman Theo Pinson has agreed to the terms of a two-year deal with Brooklyn.

Pinson missed quite a bit of time in his freshman season at UNC due to a broken metatarsal bone in his left foot, which forced him to the sidelines for 14 games. He missed the first 16 games of his junior season with a similar ailment, albeit in his other foot (fifth metatarsal). Despite his injuries, Pinson was always viewed as a positive force in the team's locker room.

As a senior with the Tar Heels, Pinson's game began to shine. The Greensboro native turned in averages of 10.3 points on 47.3 percent shooting from the field (22.6 percent from beyond the arc), 6.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.1 steals in 29.7 minutes per outing.

Pinson, now 23 years of age, joined the Nets' Summer League team after going undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft. In his five Summer League appearances, he averaged 11.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists.

Pinson signed a two-way contract with the Nets for the 2018-19 NBA season. Under that arrangement, he split his time with the Nets and their G-League affiliate, the Long Island Nets.

The Nets finished the 2018-19 campaign with a 42-40 overall record, which earned the team a No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference. Unfortunately, though, Brooklyn was defeated by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round, 4-1. With the additions of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, though, the Nets will likely be looking to make a strong push in the coming season.
