Lauri Markkanen made headlines on Friday after news broke that he was at the center of a blockbuster three-team deal between the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Chicago Bulls, and the Portland Trail Blazers. With Markkanen heading to the Cavs, it looks like Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets are looking to capitalize on the aftermath of the deal.

According to Brian Lewis of the New York Post, the Nets could emerge as beneficiaries of Friday's blockbuster trade as they set their sights on the Cavs' 7-foot big man Isaiah Hartenstein. The 23-year-old is by no means a big name in the league, but he could fill a need for Brooklyn as they look to shore up their frontcourt.

Hartenstein recently turned down the player option for the final year of his contract with the Cavs, and the fact that Cleveland had plans to bring in Markkanen could have played a key role in this development. The Nets could now be looking to pounce on Hartenstein.

Lewis also reports that this is not the first time the Nets have shown interest in Hartenstein. Brooklyn was reportedly interested in signing him prior to the bubble in Orlando last year, but contract technicalities stood in the way. The door appears open for the Nets to swoop in on Hartenstein right now, and they might just do that in the coming days/weeks.
