Throughout his rookie campaign, Brooklyn Nets center Jarrett Allen is proving that he can be more than just a serviceable big man for his team. He has the skills to score inside the paint and also a soft touch from the perimeter. When fouled and sent to the charity stripe, he can knock down shots with consistency, being a 77.4 percent shooter from that distance.
The 19-year-old Texas product once again showed his prowess from the free-throw line on Monday against the L.A. Clippers in the third quarter. However, it wasn’t just any ordinary make for him. In Allen's first attempt, the ball decided to clean the rim first before going down the hoop.

Allen had himself another decent game, starting for the Nets and playing a total of 17 minutes. He finished with eight points, four rebounds, two assists, one steal, and two blocks, but his efforts were not enough to lift his team to victory. Brooklyn has now lost six straight games, and 10 of their last 11 outings. If there’s any good sign for them though, Allen is continuing to make a good account for himself this season and is poised to become a big part of their future plans.
With their 114-101 win, the Clippers have now won four of their last five contests and are still in contention for one of the last playoff seeds in the Western Conference. Despite trading their best player, Blake Griffin, they continue to grind it out each night and are proving that they are not a one-man team.
