Irving shook up the NBA landscape this past offseason by signing as a free agent with Brooklyn, joined by one-time All-Star center DeAndre Jordan and two-time Finals MVP Kevin Durant. KD will likely miss the entire 2019-20 season recovering from an Achilles tendon tear he sustained during the 2019 NBA Finals against the Raptors.
Irving is a New Jersey native and previously promised Boston Celtics fans he would re-sign with the franchise prior to the tumultuous 2018-19 season. After being eliminated in the second round of the playoffs, Irving quietly planned an exit so he could play for the Nets.
Irving missed time during the preseason after suffering a facial injury, playing only one minute against the Los Angeles Lakers.
