The Brooklyn Nets pulled off a move that few teams have ever done, they acquired two superstars without trading away every asset and rotation player they had. In doing so they're now able to field a really deep team that will become a nightmare for any team to matchup with this season.
On the daily Locked On Nets Podcast, hosts Adam Armbrecht and Doug Norrie discussed seeing Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving together for the first time and the Nets' biggest advantage outside of the two superstars: their bench.
Article Continues BelowAdam Armbrecht: This is just a really deep team that's going to allow everybody to be fresh and they're going to be incredibly difficult to continue to go like-for-like or match-for-match as the subs come in off the bench… I like what we can start to assemble even in that second unit that could look way more dangerous than it did last year.
Doug Norrie: The depth is incredible on this team. Other teams are just going to have such a problem and we'll start to see it when everyone starts putting their best foot forward in terms of actual rotations and actually wanting to win games. You're going to see the big difference between what the Nets are putting out there for their second unit and what other teams are able to do when they take their best players off the court. Wait till they play Boston and Tatum and Brown are off the court. Who's out there? Aaron Nesmith and Jeff Teague?
Adam: We're going to be pointing every time saying there's the matchup problem almost every single time you're going to be able to look and say this is why they're going to have an issue because that team is weak here at this position from a depth perspective.
Doug: The Nets second unit is better than Knicks right now, I'm being serious.
