Since the start of the season, Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo has been on a tear, and leading his team with his string of solid performances. While his incredible statistics have been much talked about, he has been averaging an even more impressive number, after digging deeper in his production so far this year.

Despite playing his natural position at the wing spot, The Greek Freak has been scoring in bunches inside the paint, by attacking the basket strongly. That said, he has scored 23.7 points per game in the shaded lane, eclipsing Shaquille O’Neal’s previous record from the 1999-00 season. He now has the highest scoring average from that area, beating the previous one by 1.2 points.

This feat goes to show how dominant Antetokounmpo has been this year. He is averaging eye-popping numbers of 34.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.0 steals 39.0 minutes per game. More importantly, the Bucks currently own a 4-2 record, and the 22-year-old is not showing any signs of stopping anytime soon, which is bad news for the rest of the competition.

It may seem unlikely that he keeps this pace throughout the season, but over the past four years, Antetokounmpo has upped his game, and continues to turn a lot of heads with his style of play. It makes it also very difficult to think he won’t be able to sustain his strong start, especially with the Bucks relying heavily on him, and looking to have a deeper run in the playoffs this season.
