Former Boston Celtics center Kendrick Perkins made an interesting claim about Boston's current roster in a tweet that was sent out on Thursday afternoon. In his message, Perk claimed that the C's should trade Gordon Hayward for Oklahoma City Thunder big man Steven Adams.

Current Celtics big man Enes Kanter saw this bit of theory crafting and decided to send out a simple yet to-the-point rebuttal:

The Celtics could use a player like Steven Adams, but to say that the team should trade Hayward for him seems a bit foolish. Gordon Hayward, after all, is one of Boston's primary options on offense, and his perimeter shooting and playmaking fits nicely with head coach Brad Stevens' schematics on the court. Adams would surely provide a lift in the paint, as he's an able rebounder and rim protector, but losing Hayward to get him would be tough.

Hayward has recovered from the nasty leg injury he sustained, and he appears to be regaining his former prowess on the court. He has made 27 appearances with the Celtics this season, racking up averages of 16.1 points on 51.0 percent shooting from the field (36.4 percent from beyond the arc), 5.9 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 31.9 minutes per contest. His production isn't quite what it once was, but he's still enjoying a nice season overall.

In his last outing — a 119-95 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night — Hayward logged 28 minutes,  notching 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting (2-of-4 from downtown), four assists, three rebounds and one steal. Boston moved to 29-14 with the victory, which is good for fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings, though Hayward will have to step up if Jayson Tatum misses any time with a groin injury.

Hayward and the Celtics will be back in action on Friday night, when they'll face off against the Orlando Magic. Tip-off inside the Amway Center is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
