The Chicago Bulls have won six NBA Championships, made 35 trips to the postseason, and housed arguably the greatest basketball player ever in Michael Jordan.
But no team that's ever passed through the Windy City has accomplished what the 2018-19 Bulls did on Friday night.
Which was to post an absurd amount of points on the scoreboard – a new franchise-high of 157 to be exact.
🚨NEW RECORD: The #Bulls have just recorded a franchise scoring high with 157. There is 3:14 left in this game.

Given, the game went into four overtimes, but the Bulls defeated the Atlanta Hawks 168-161 – spearheaded by guard Zach LaVine's brilliant showing for Chicago with 47 points, nine assists, and nine rebounds in 56 minutes of action.
Second-year big man Lauri Markkanen followed with a triple-double performance of 31 points, 17 rebounds, and 15 assists.
Article Continues BelowDespite the Bulls holding the NBA's youngest roster, head coach Jim Boylen has stuck to his guns after recently noting that he's more concerned with his team's growth, in lieu of throwing in the towel for the remainder of this season.
From K.C. Johnson of The Chicago Tribune:
“My marching orders are to continue to coach and develop and demand good basketball and better play and honor the things we’ve talked about — playing for ‘Bulls’ across their chest, competing at a high level, playing the right way,” Boylen said. “From my vantage point, I’m worried about us growing, and you grow when you have pressure put on you. You grow when you have something at stake. So I’m going to keep pushing these guys to grow as a team.
“As far as the other stuff, continue to build our culture of competitiveness and that the team is first and we care for each other and the franchise. We’ve got a young crew that needs to be held accountable and developed. And that’s what I’m going to do.”
The Chicago Bulls move to 18-45 with the win, and will aim at finishing strong before they embark on their offseason.
Even if the jubilation of making history only lasts for a night, it should serve as a proud moment for a team that hasn't had much to rave about this year.
