Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is slowly closing in on the title of being the Greatest of All Time. Then again, according to a recent survey conducted by CBS Sports, the race is actually not as close as some would presume. As it turns out, Jordan blew James out of the water by accumulating 82 percent of the votes.

Sorry Kobe Bryant fans, you best look away now, as the Lakers legend is not even mentioned on this particular head-to-head bout.

Garry Parish of CSB Sports published the results of their study, which had a very specific audience. Along with colleague Matt Norlander, these two college basketball reporters surveyed over 100 college coaches and asked a straightforward, yet seemingly complex question: who is the GOAT, MJ or LeBron?

One coach brought forth the argument on how the NBA was much different in Jordan's time as opposed to how the game is played today.

“Not to take anything away from LeBron, but the game is so different now from when Jordan played,” said the anonymous coach.”If Mike played in in this day and age, with freedom of movement, he'd average 40 points a game.”

Another coach voted for LeBron as he took into context each individual's contributions to society outside the basketball court.

“If we are going off the man as a whole, I'm taking LeBron. Basketball-wise he is not far off from Jordan — and the numbers he has put up year in and year out are absurd,” he argued. “Where I think LeBron has separated himself from Jordan is with his stances on what he believes in. The school he just opened is awesome and will change lives. And what he has stood for, and stood against, throughout his career is what puts him on my Mount Rushmore of Athletes.”

College basketball coaches — or at least a hundred of them — have spoken. According to them, Jordan is far and wide the greatest to ever play the game. This should settle it — or at least until the next argument comes about.
