The Chicago Bulls reserves were on the floor in the critical fourth quarter while the Los Angeles Lakers were making their run. It was a questionable decision but head coach Jim Boylen explained his move, per Tony Gill of 670 The Score.

“I'm gonna develop this bench, I'm gonna develop this team. I got 15 guys to develop and I'm gonna play them in those moments.”

The Bulls led by as much as 19 points against the Lakers on Tuesday. From the looks of it, they were on the way to an upset. All they needed to do was to maintain the pressure.

But as the game entered the second half, several baskets by Kyle Kuzma sparked an impending run by the Purple and Gold. The Bulls, meanwhile, couldn't respond. The lead eventually slipped out of their hands and lost the game.

The Bulls have been labeled as a young and up and coming team in the league. The likes of Lauri Markannen, Zach LaVine, and even Coby White, are seen to finally transform the Bulls into a contending team.

However, Boylen's words reveal his goal for the 2019-20 season. This is his first full year as the team's head coach. And he seems to be prioritizing the ‘development' of his players rather than winning — a feat which almost always boosts the team's morale and spirit.
