The Chicago Bulls had a roller-coaster season and are on pace to finish with one of the worst records in the NBA. While they still have five games left to play this season, Bulls head coach Jim Boylen is already looking forward to his first training camp with the team.

Boylen took over in Chicago early in the season after former head coach Fred Hoiberg was sacked after a dismal 5-19 start. There was also turmoil within the organization after Boylen took over, but the first-year head coach is not looking back. He is already looking forward to the offseason.

“I'm really looking forward to training camp,” Boylen said via Mark Potash of the Chicago Sun-Times. “I'm looking forward to the summer league [which] will be kind of our test site for some of the things that we'll do and the preparation for that, and then training camp will ramp up.”

The Bulls have a decent young core. The 53-year-old Boylen said that the training camp will give him a lot of time to sharpen the roles of his young players: Lauri Markkanen, Zach LaVine, Otto Porter, and Kris Dunn.

LaVine had a strong season for the Bulls. He led the team in scoring with 23.7 points per game to along with 4.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists. Lauri Markkanen was also solid for Chicago, posting 19.0 points on top of 6.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game. In 15 games, Porter showed that he is a solid future piece for Chicago.

It also worth noting that the Bulls could get one of the top rookies in the 2019 NBA Draft. Chicago currently holds the fourth-worst record in the league, which would put it in a position to nab another quality young player in the offseason.
