Robin Lopez was benched by the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night before their game with the Philadelphia 76ers as they try to get some of the younger guys more playing time. He seems to be taking the benching in stride though, and even though he is disappointed, he is looking out for the team.
K.C Johnson of the Chicago Tribune caught up for some quotes:
Lopez: “All my teammates, whether they’ve been playing with me or sitting on the bench and not dressing, they’ve all supported me. I don’t think I’d be too good a person if I didn’t do at least the bare minimum of the same.”
He also seemed to still have the same sense of humor that has made him a fan favorite with the fans and teammates. When asked about the team tanking, he shot back with a witty answer.

Robin Lopez on tanking: "“I’m not familiar with military artillery.”

Although that wasn't quite the tanking they were asking about, it's good to know Lopez isn't caught up with the latest trends with the military.
For Lopez, he has had a really nice season with the Bulls before this tanking. He has averaged over 27 minutes per game putting up 12.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and two assists.
It wasn't really made clear how long Lopez will be out, but with the Bulls not playing a guy who has started every game for the team this year, there is no doubt it will take a little bit for the new unit to groove and start to play in sync with each other.
