Chicago Bulls rookie center Wendell Carter Jr. had some nice things to say about Phoenix Suns big man Deandre Ayton ahead of their matchup in Chicago on Wednesday night.
“He’s a solid player all around,” Carter Jr. told Bulls media members on Wednesday morning, referring to Ayton. “He looks for his shots and is very aggressive. It’s going to be a very good matchup for me. A good opportunity for both of us to get better.”
Wednesday night's game features two of the best up-and-coming bigs the NBA has to offer in Carter and Ayton. Both were first-round picks in this year's draft. Ayton was taken with the No. 1 overall pick, while Carter was selected at No. 7.
The Bulls are off to a shaky start to this season. In fact, Chicago is currently holding a 4-13 overall record, which is good for the No. 4 spot in the Central Division standings. Injuries have played a role, to be sure. Carter however, has been playing well.

In his 17 appearances with the Bulls this season, Carter has racked up averages of 11.3 points, 46.5 percent shooting from the field, 7.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.9 blocks in 25.9 minutes per outing.
Like Carter, Ayton is quickly making a name for himself in the league, as he's already averaging a double-double (16.4 points on 61.1 percent shooting from the field, 10.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists).
Wednesday night's Bulls-Suns matchup is scheduled to tip inside the United Center at 7:00 p.m. ET. Let's see which big man comes out on top.
