Zach LaVine is in his third season with the Chicago Bulls. The high-flyer, along with forward Lauri Markkanen, were the two centerpiece players the Bulls acquired from the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Jimmy Butler trade.
The Bulls haven't won a lot of games since LaVine arrived to The Windy City, but the shooting guard says he loves playing for Chicago:
“It’s just such a historic franchise,” Zach LaVine told Abe Schwadron of Slam. “We’re in a little bit of a downslope right now, we started the rebuilding process and right now we’re underachieving to what we thought our goals for the year were. But it’s a great opportunity to help get this franchise back to a place where it should be—a top-3 franchise, a top-3 market in the world. The fan base here is incredible. What’s not to love? It’s a great city.”
In 52 games this season for the Bulls, LaVine is averaging 24.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.1 assists. He’s shooting 44.2 percent from the field, 37.6 percent from beyond the arc and 82.8 percent from the free-throw line.
LaVine is making $19,500,000 this season. He signed a four-year, $78 million offer sheet with the Sacramento Kings in 2018, which the Bulls quickly matched. They clearly view him as a franchise cornerstone, even as the first three years of their post-Butler rebuild haven’t gone as planned.
The Bulls are 19-33 on the season and in ninth place in the NBA’s Eastern Conference standings.
