Things aren't exactly shaping up as expected for the Chicago Bulls — especially considering how they went all in at the trade deadline. With their playoff hopes quickly vanishing, now appears to be the time for the Bulls to look ahead for the upcoming season.

Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic will still be Chicago's one-two punch next season, but what we've learned over the past couple of months is that they need more help. According to reports, this might come in the form of free agency recruits in the offseason.

According to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the Bulls could be looking to bring in the likes of Lonzo Ball or Dennis Schroder via free agency. Woj firmly believes that the point guard position is a post Chicago will be looking to fill in the offseason and that it is going to come “at a premium for them” (h/t Blake Schuster of Bleacher Report).

Woj then threw in the names of Ball and Schroder, who are both going to enter free agency once their respective contracts end at the end of the season.

Ball has been widely rumored to be on his way out of the New Orleans Pelicans, and it was actually a surprise that the Pels were unable to move him prior to the trade deadline. Schroder, on the other hand, just joined the Los Angeles Lakers in the offseason, but he could also look for greener pastures come summertime. He might have done enough this season to see a significant bump in his value, and LA might not be willing (or able) to meet his demands once they enter negotiations.

The future is bright in Chicago, but with the way things have gone in the NBA today, it is clear that two superstars simply aren't enough to propel the Bulls to contender status.
