By all accounts, guard Patrick Beverley and the Chicago Bulls have mutual interest in getting a deal done this summer once free agency starts on June 30.
However, according to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, Beverley might end up being too pricey for the Bulls:
Chicago native Patrick Beverley would be a great fit for what the Bulls want at point guard, but a source said Thursday that Beverley might end up being too pricey, considering the interest building around him.
Beverley is expected to draw interest from multiple teams this offseason. The rugged defender will surely get a pay raise from the $5,027,027 he made in 2018-19 with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Beverley averaged 7.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists for the Clippers. The Chicago native shot 40.7 percent from the field, 39.7 percent from beyond the arc and 78.0 percent from the free-throw line. Beverley is one of the best perimeter defenders in all of basketball and plays with a passion and grit Bulls head coach Jim Boylen would love.
Chicago drafted North Carolina guard Coby White with the No. 7 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. Some believe the Bulls will try to trade Kris Dunn now. Beverley would be a great mentor for White, but it looks like the Bulls will have to open up their pockets if they want to sign him.
