If there’s anything constant with Jimmy Butler this season apart from playing well night in and night out, it’s his inclusion in a lot of trade chatter. Having no representation since last summer, the Chicago Bulls forward recently made a big move that could relieve him of a lot of work outside the court.

It has been reported that Butler has hired the services of Bernie Lee to serve as his agent, and help handle his transactions, as well as his future contract situation, according to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune.

“Butler, without representation since last offseason, has signed with Bernie Lee. The Toronto-based agent has filed paperwork with the National Basketball Players Association to finalize the agreement and the Bulls were informed of the change during Butler’s exit meeting this week.”

Despite still being under contract with the Bulls for two more seasons, the 27-year-old Marquette product has been the subject of a number of trade rumors, which reached its peak during the deadline last February. Although he remains with the Bulls, he still could be moved, should the team decide to rebuild and try to get a haul of young players and future picks in exchange for his services.

This summer is expected to be a very busy one for the Bulls front office, who’ll need to make big decisions that could change the future of the team. Coming off a season where they are considered to have underperformed, they’ll be hard pressed to make some changes to their roster to give them the best chance to contend in the Eastern Conference next year. Should there be more talk about Butler getting shipped out of The Windy City, he’ll now have someone to help him make the necessary discussions with the Bulls, and also represent him in any official business talks moving forward.
