LeBron James may be living it up in the bright lights of Hollywood, but his presence is still felt in Northeast Ohio. Prior to his return to Cleveland to take on his former team, the Cavs, James stopped by the I Promise School in Akron, Ohio — a school he was instrumental in creating.

James will always be a legend in Ohio. His school could have lasting effects on the community and help lift up kids in Akron, much like basketball helped lift up James to where he is now. From a basketball perspective, James gave Cleveland the championship it had spent decades waiting on. His unbelievable performance in the 2016 NBA Finals helped spur the Cavs to wins in Games 5, 6, and 7. Winning a championship in Cleveland was a long time coming for James, and it fulfilled his destiny as the prodigal son.

His days as a Cav are likely over, but his contributions to the franchise will never be in doubt. Expect a warm welcome for James when he returns to Quicken Loans Arena. It might not be as warm as the welcome he received at the I Promise School, though, because there have to be a few Cavs fans who begrudge his decision to leave for the Los Angeles Lakers.

That being said, the Cleveland crowd will shower LeBron James with appreciation in his return, and rightfully so.
