The Dallas Mavericks had been dealing with several injuries lately. Kyrie Irving and Maxi Kleber continue to be sidelined while Dereck Lively II and Josh Green recently made their return to the lineup. Amid the shifting rotation, the Mavs decided to change up the roster a little bit by signing G League standout Brandon Williams to a two-way contract as per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The Dallas Mavericks plan to sign guard Brandon Williams to a two-way NBA deal out of the G League’s Osceola Magic, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Williams is averaging 23.9 points and 5.6 assists in G League this season.

The Mavs move to sign Brandon Williams comes as they already have all three of their available two-way contract slots occupied. One of Greg Brown, Dexter Dennis or AJ Lawson will have to be waived in order for the Mavs to make room for Williams on the roster.
Article Continues BelowOn a two-way contract, Williams will spend most of his time in the G League with the Mavs affiliate the Texas Legends. He is limited to only 50 NBA games and is not able to play in the playoffs unless his deal is converted to a standard contract.
Williams went undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft. He played the 2021-22 season with the Westchester Knicks in the G League. Later that season he signed a 1o-day contract with the Portland. Trail Blazers and then ultimately a two-way contract. Overall, he appeared in 24 games for the Blazers that season averaging 12.9 points per game, 3.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.0 steals with splits of 37.2 percent shooting from the field and 29.2 percent shooting from the three-point line.
Williams had been playing in the G League this season with the Osceola Magic the affiliate of the Orlando Magic. He had been averaging 23.9 points and 5.6 assists.
