Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks played his final NBA game last night against the San Antonio Spurs, scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in a 105-94 loss. After the game, the 21-year veteran said he's glad that he can finally rest and enjoy some food and wine.

After months of contemplating, Nowitzki has finally made it official that he's retiring from the NBA after this season, ending an illustrious career that spanned for more than two decades. The future Hall of Famer didn't say what his plans are after this season, but Mavs team owner Mark Cuban recently said that Dirk will always have a place in the organization.

Now that Nowitzki is officially retired, he might spend some time in Germany this summer. He is also expected to be recruited by media companies such as ESPN and TNT, as well as some leagues for former NBA players like the Big3.

Nowitzki has only won one NBA title in his career, but it is still considered as one of the best championship runs in modern day history. Dirk led the Mavs to an upset of the heavily favored Miami Heat back in 2011. He also won the Finals MVP that year.

Aside from that, Nowitzki finished his career as the sixth in the NBA's All-Time scoring list.

Nowitzki will surely be missed by a lot of fans, but the team's future is in good hands, as Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis will be taking over the reins from Dirk.
