There were a few surprises on draft night, but one of the most shocking was Michael Porter Jr. sliding down the draft board. There were reports that trickled in during the day about the concern with his medical reports, and it might cause a huge fall.

Porter Jr. ended up having to wait until the 14th pick when the Denver Nuggets took the chance on him, which was a huge fall for a guy who was once considered one of the best prospects in the draft.

There have been reports that he could end up sitting out this entire season, and unless he is “perfectly healthy” for the summer league, he won't be playing in it.

Waiting on draft night can't be fun for anyone, but once Porter Jr. heard his name called that's all that mattered and he was overcome by joy.

“It was all excitement,” Porter told Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated. “All that stress and wondering what city I was going to land in… It wasn’t about the [draft] number. It was about the city I was going to. All of that was overcome by joy. I don’t feel entitled to this.”

If Michael Porter Jr. can stay healthy, and his back can hold up, he has all the talent in the world to be a star in the league, but that is a big if. He fought the injury his entire Freshman season with the Missouri Tigers, and problems started popping up again during his private workouts with teams.

Look for the Nuggets to play this extremely cautious, and it wouldn't be surprising if he isn't out there for the Summer League.
