While Denver Nuggets Nikola Jokic doesn't have the typical build for a superstar, he is one of the top players in the league. However, Jokic admitted to Rachel Nichols of ESPN that he was the “worst-conditioned” player when he came into the league.

Over time, though, he has vastly improved his conditioning and is now the frontrunner to win the MVP award.

Nikola Jokic started eating healthier and getting in better shape when he got to the NBA. This past season, however, the Nuggets star made it a real point to get into better shape.

During the 2019-20 season shutdown, he worked on his conditioning that has made him an even better player. He may not be running faster, but you can tell he has more stamina and energy every time he is on the floor.

Jokic is one of the most well-rounded players in the NBA, and his MVP candidacy this season is enough proof of that. While Joel Embiid is also having a great season, the Nuggets All-Star has been able to stay healthy all season and dominate opposing teams. He is averaging 26.2 points, 10.9 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game this season.

Moreover, the Joker can beat opposing players in a variety of different ways, which makes it scary to play against him. There are games where he drops 40 or gets 15 assists, but one thing is certain: he makes sure to impact the game. It is hard for any defender to stop Jokic given how well-balanced a player he is.

Even with Jamal Murray injured, Jokic and the Nuggets will be a tough team to face in the playoffs.
