Denver Nuggets guard Will Barton spoke with CBS's Matt Moore about the recent cultural social issues that have been rippling across the country.

NBA players are planning protests of their own in one way or another, and are looking to create a positive change however they can.

Barton gave his thoughts on the situation in the wake of opening preseason games of the 2016-2017 season.

It’s sad, man. What’s going on, and it’s a real big issue. People are trying to push it to the side and make it about patriotism and a lot of other things. Listen, the issue is that young black men are being killed, by cops, on camera, and they’re innocent. There’s no way to get around that.

He also made is clear that he would not allow any outside influences to hinder his decisions to protest or speak on any issues.

Most teams including Nuggets president Josh Kroenke are giving their full support to the players this season without issuing fines or ultimatums. The Nuggets also plan to initiate conversations with the community along with their protests to help find solutions.

Barton, who is a role model and a player that is never in any kind of trouble, and is one of the few Nuggets players willing to step up to the plate to help the Mile High City community.

Over the past months, Teams have called in trying to acquire the services of Will Barton from the Nuggets.
