Will the Detroit Pistons win another game? Currently finding themselves on a 27-game losing streak, a new league record for the most consecutive losses in a single season, the Pistons are staring 28 losses down with a road matchup against the Boston Celtics on Thursday night. The Celtics, who have won eight of their last nine games, including three straight, own the best record in the league. However, they could wind up being short-handed in this game with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown both landing on the injury report.

Where as Brown is dealing with a lower back contusion, Tatum has appeared on the Celtics' injury report for what the team is calling “left ankle, sprain management.” The Celtics' All-Star missed a game last week against the Sacramento Kings due to an ankle sprain.

However, Tatum is not prepared to miss another game just yet, as the team upgraded his status to available. As for Brown, the opposite can be said, as he has been ruled out for Thursday night's game against the Pistons. This will mark just the second time Brown has missed a game this season.

In a total of 28 games this season, Brown's production has declined compared to the All-NBA season he had last year. So far, Brown has averaged 22.6 points per game while shooting 47.8 percent from the floor and 33.5 percent from 3-point range. With the Celtics All-Star out of the lineup, either Sam Hauser or Al Horford will draw the start alongside Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, Derrick White, and Tatum.

While they may be going up against a team with just two wins on the season, this is a big game for the Celtics. The Pistons put up good fights against the Celtics last season and there is added pressure on Boston for this matchup given their opponent's lengthy losing streak. No team wants to be known as the ones who lost to the Pistons this season, which is why there will be some added energy and juice to this game in TD Garden on Thursday night.

Should the Pistons lose their 28th straight game, they will tie the Philadelphia 76ers for the longest losing streak in NBA history. The Sixers lost 10 games to end the 2014-15 season, followed by 18 straight losses to begin the 2015-16 season.

Things are not looking good for the Pistons and their chances of ending this long losing streak, especially since five of their next six games are on the road. If Detroit falls in Boston on Thursday night, they will face a scenario where they could lose 29 straight games on Saturday against the Toronto Raptors.

As for the Celtics, a win over the Pistons would be their fourth straight victory, which would mark the fourth time this season that Boston has had a win streak of at least four games.
