The Warriors two-time MVP entered the history books on Monday. Curry's 49-point game gave him the most consecutive games of 30 or more points (11) by a player 33 years of age or older, passing Kobe Bryant. But that wasn't all.
Curry also notched his fifth 40-point game in April, passing Bryant and Michael Jordan for the most in a single month by a player aged 33 or older.
Article Continues BelowThe “Baby-Faced Assassin” has now scored a combined 96 points in his last two games for the Warriors after dropping 47 against the Boston Celtics on Saturday. He has made 10 or more three-pointers in four of the Warriors last five games after going 10-for-17 from beyond the arc Monday night against the Sixers. Most importantly for Curry and the Dubs, the team is winning.
Golden State has now won five of its last six games, improving to 29-29 on the season. The Warriors are just one game back of the eighth-seeded Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference standings, trailing the seventh-seeded Dallas Mavericks by two games.
Enhancing playoff positioning could bolster Curry's case. He already leads the league in scoring (31.4) while also ranking second in value over replacement player (VORP) and box plus-minus for the Warriors.
Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic is still the favorite. But Curry could make things interesting if his absurd run continues.
