LeBron James and Kevin Durant aren't going to quit their basketball careers in favor of careers in the music business, but both are huge fans of hip-hop. James said, per Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints:
“We're both hip-hop guys who love hip-hop & love, at that point, getting things off our mind. Just having fun with it. It was during the lockout.
“We spent a lot of time training in the offseason, so we had some downtime during our training sessions. So that's what happened.”
James is referring to the rap song he and Durant created during the NBA lockout in 2011. The two came together to lay down a track and occupy their time while they were waiting for the lockout to end and the season to begin.
Article Continues BelowOn Wednesday, James and Durant will square off in a much less important game than their previous meeting. The Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors will meet in Las Vegas for their penultimate preseason game. The teams will finish off the preseason against one another in the Bay Area on Friday.
James and the Warriors have a long-standing rivalry dating back to the 2015 NBA Finals. James' Cleveland Cavaliers and the Warriors tussled in four straight Finals. It's safe to say that James and the Warriors are quite familiar with one another at this point.
But now the rivalry takes on a different feel. There will be no fifth straight meeting in the Finals, but there will be more regular-season matchups. The two teams share the Pacific Division and they will face each other four times next season. Both teams should be playoff teams when all is said and done. We won't get a Finals rematch between the Warriors and LeBron, but a playoff series out West is possible.
