NBA players have long lobbied for a shortened season to no avail. Grinding out 82 games each season take a toll on their bodies. One idea that has also surfaced to help fight this issue is a shortened preseason.
Last year, commissioner Adam Silver pointed out that there is a good chance cutting the preseason down may happen.
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr says he supports the idea of a shortened preseason and would love for it to happen. Via Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle:

Kerr is looking to limit players’ workloads this season. His practices include no wind sprints, and he plans to rest starters from time to time during the season, even if it jeopardizes wins. After last season where his star player, Stephen Curry, was hurt in the playoffs, he knows maintenance is an important key going forward.
“A month is usually enough time to get their legs underneath them. The starters will be ready to play 30-plus minutes in the regular season.”
The Warriors begin preseason versus the Los Angeles Clippers on October 4.
