Golden State Warriors rookie Jonathan Kuminga registered the first start of his NBA career on Saturday against the Toronto Raptors, thanks to the Dubs resting key stars. The No. 7 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft had a career night, scoring 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field and 4-of-6 from 3-point range in a 119-100 loss.
It was a career high in 3-pointers made in a game for the rookie. Kuminga did his best impersonation of Stephen Curry, who was out resting. But one hot night won't change the Warriors youngster's game.
“My game is driving to the hoop every time. I'm always staying consistent and driving. If you give me a lot of space, it's going to make me want to shoot the ball. The focus point is me attacking the rim first,” Kuminga told ClutchPoints.

Kuminga has elite athletic ability, and he knows how to use it in games. It has already provided him with some highlight-reel plays this season, although he hasn't played much. Playing extended minutes against Toronto meant it was likely the Warriors rookie would add another highlight to the list, and he did just that:

Shooting has been the question mark for Kuminga, and just because he made four 3-pointers in this game doesn't mean he has figured it out. However, it does signify he is working hard at it and isn't afraid to shoot if left open. The more he shoots, the more confidence he will gain.

Knocking down open triples is more challenging than most understand. If Kuminga learns how to do it semi-consistently, it will open the door for his game to blossom. That's when the Warriors rookie will become a nightmare for all opposing defenders and teams.
