As the regular season drew to a close on Wednesday night, Kevin Durant and the top-seeded Golden State Warriors now prepare for a first-round tilt against the eighth seed Los Angeles Clippers — a matchup he feels will test their mettle heading into a long playoff run.

“We got our work cut out for us. I know it's a 1-8 series but they got a lot of talent that know how to play in the playoffs,” said Durant, according to ESPN's Nick Friedell. “They got players that are ready for the playoffs so we're looking forward to seeing what our game plan is, looking forward to preparing.”

The Clippers have overachieved for two straight seasons now, managing over .500 records and keeping their poise and spirit despite trading their best player the last two campaigns.

L.A.'s culture under head coach Doc Rivers is a strong one, as this feisty bunch led by sixth man extraordinaire Lou Williams has proved to handle big-time pressure while mustering a 48-34 record this season, six wins better than their last campaign.

The Warriors finished their season with a strong run, losing a season finale against the Memphis Grizzlies by deploying their entire bench in hopes to get the starters an extra day of rest.

Durant and Klay Thompson combined for 40 points in 35 combined minutes, getting just the necessary run to keep themselves in shape before getting two days of peace before the series starts on Saturday at 5 p.m. in Oracle Arena.
