The Golden State Warriors were well on their way to a win against the Boston Celtics in Game 1 of the 2022 NBA Finals. Then, after going up by as many as 15 points in the second half, they floundered. They were outscored 40-16 in the fourth quarter and now face a deficit in the championship series after losing 120-108.
So, who is to blame for the Warriors‘ meltdown in the fourth quarter? A lot of players and coaches share the blame for such an epic collapse. But the one person who should not escape blame is none other than Nancy Pelosi.
Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, tweeted from both her personal account and governmental position account in support of the Warriors ahead of Game 1. The representative from San Francisco (California's 12th District) has tweeted about the Dubs plenty of times in the past, including when Stephen Curry broke the NBA's 3-point record. She has shown support for the San Francisco Giants, too, though her status as a big fan took a hit when she confused Willie Mays and Willie McCovey on social media:

Clearly, the basketball gods don't smile upon a politician who supports candidates whose views clash with her base of supporters and who refuses to support policies that most Americans favor. The Warriors have to learn that lesson the hard way.
All political commentary aside, Golden State still showed that they are a force to be reckoned with in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. Stephen Curry put on a show and the Dubs had a sizable lead in the second half. They will have another shot at home to even the series before it heads to Boston.
