Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry had a chance to hit the go-ahead shot with under 10 seconds left in Game 6 of the NBA Finals on Friday night, but instead, he clanked a three-pointer, and the Toronto Raptors emerged as NBA champions.

This is not the first time Curry has failed to make a big shot in the playoffs.

As a matter of fact, since 2001, only nine players have taken nine or more potential go-ahead shots in the final 24 seconds of fourth quarters or overtimes, and Curry is the only one on the list without a make:

Of course, there are some arbitrary numbers there, but the fact of the matter is that Curry has not been able to get the job done in those big moments.

Now, to be fair, Curry did hit a monstrous game-tying three-pointer late in Game 5 on the road on Monday night, which helped the Warriors force a Game 6 to begin with.

Also, those nine shots are a very small sample size, so that must be pointed out.

Still, by now, we all know how this works. If you want to be compared to the all-time greats, you need to be able to make those big shots, and Curry is yet to have a whole lot of big ones on his resume.

Curry did not have a great Game 6 overall, either, as he scored 21 points off 6-of-17 shooting and went just 3-of-11 from three-point range. It is important to note, however, that two of those three-pointers were full-court heaves at the ends of quarters.
