Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors battled against the Miami Heat on Thursday night, but in the end fell to the Eastern Conference champions, 116-109. The loss, their fifth in the last six games, dropped the Warriors to 23-25 for the season as they remain in the 10th spot in the tough Western Conference.
The Heat withstood a 36-point outburst from Curry, who added 11 rebounds and three assists in the defeat. After the game, the two-time MVP was asked about how challenging the season has been. But even though Curry admitted that the losses carry a burden that is hard to carry, they are still embracing the challenges of the season (via The Athletic’s Anthony Slater).
Steph Curry: "I know for me and Draymond, we've tried to be conscious of the development but also the understanding we have a lot of growing to do and our leadership has to be consistent in that respect. Nobody has time to sulk. Just go out and hoop." pic.twitter.com/GrS1cCoEUK

Curry got plenty of help from Andrew Wiggins, who finished with 23 points, eight rebounds, and four assists, while Draymond Green had a near triple-double of 16 points, 10 boards, eight dimes on top of four steals. But even though the Warriors kept within striking distance, they couldn’t overcome the Heat in Victor Oladipo’s debut for South Beach.
The Warriors, which had five straight trips to the NBA Finals from 2015-2019, including three championships, are facing an uphill climb just to make the NBA Playoffs. Curry joined the team when it was still struggling more than a decade ago, and has been through many battles. So the tough campaign this season isn't necessarily new to the perennial All-Star.
Whether the growth they want to see is enough to carry them to the postseason, Stephen Curry, along with the other veterans, will keep playing and leading their younger teammates through what has been a mediocre season.
