Kevon Looney of the Golden State Warriors just got his high school jersey retired, and his teammates were there to accompany him.

Looney played for Hamilton High School in Milwaukee and won numerous awards, including a selection to the McDonald's All-American Game in his senior year. He wore jersey No. 5 — the same number that he now wears for the Warriors. And when he went to his old school for the retirement ceremony, his teammates were right behind him:

The ceremony also served as a treat for the students at Hamilton. Based on their reactions, they only expected Kevon Looney to come and visit. Little did they know that the whole Warriors team — including superstars Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and DeMarcus Cousins — were trailing behind. Even head coach Steve Kerr had a few words to share during the ceremony itself:

Indeed, it has been a great journey for the 22-year-old Looney. In his first three years in the league, he has already two championship rings in his trophy case. Now, he can hang up his retired high school jersey right beside it.

Kevon Looney and the Warriors are facing the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night. The two-time defending champions will be out for some revenge after the Bucks destroyed them at Oracle Arena earlier this season. Looney is expected to start once again with both Draymond Green and Damian Jones hurting.
