Dwyane Wade is not a stranger to the rigorous weekly fitness checks his old club has been conducting for years. Now two weeks into his first stint back with the Miami Heat after a year-and-a-half away with the Chicago Bulls and the Cleveland Cavaliers, Wade has once again felt what it's like to be under the strict supervision of the team's physio-control.
“I've had it twice already since I've been here,” Wade said of the Heat's renowned body-fat measurements, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida South Sentinel. “But it's a part of what I need on this team, especially as we get down the stretch. I want to get in better shape to be able to do more things on the floor and I got to get into the shape of this team.”
The likes of James Johnson and Dion Waiters have expressed the shock they first felt after seeing such a minute and detailed attention to each aspect of their physical fitness, a caveat that often scares some players away from the Heat.
Despite ranking as one of the more Heat-identified players along with Udonis Haslem, Wade recognizes his stature with the team does not change the approach the organization will take with him or his fitness.

Now in his 15th year in the league, Wade is also doing the extra work to keep his body in a sane condition, prepared for the toll of an 82-game NBA season.
“It's been a very different training regimen,” Wade said of his season. “For me, it's been like training camp all over again. I’m probably as sore as I’ve been all year.
“First of all, the style of play is different. I'm coming from a different system to a system that is way different. So it's more body movement for each player on the team, which is a little different than where I come from with my role.”
Next up for Wade and the Heat will be the Memphis Grizzlies in South Beach on Saturday night.
