Since the trade deadline back in February, Paul George’s name has consistently been included in a lot of trade chatter, and linked to a number of teams as his next destination. From the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics and the L.A. Clippers, speculations have continued to emerge as to where he’ll play next, but so far nothing has materialized yet, and he still remains with the Indiana Pacers.

Now, the Houston Rockets has reportedly joined the sweepstakes for the four-time All-Star forward’s services, according to Marc Stein of ESPN. Already previously rumored to be making a move for Chris Paul, it has become clearer that they are planning to pursue not just one, but two big names this summer to have alongside their current franchise player, James Harden, and contend in the Western Conference against the Golden State Warriors.

“Sources said that Houston also remains at the heart of the trade hunt to acquire Paul George from the Indiana Pacers, despite the fact that the All-Star is only under contract through next season and is known to be angling to sign with his hometown Los Angeles Lakers in July 2018.”

George is widely considered one of the best small forwards in the league today for his scoring ability and versatility in defending multiple positions. He has also proven that he can take a team to the playoffs consistently, but needs a strong supporting cast to have deeper runs in it.

Should the Rockets be successful in bringing him to their fold, he could be the missing link to their plans of coming out of their conference and competing for a championship. George will also give them a very reliable scorer and a lot of star power, which will all be to their advantage. However, with all the suitors he has, it will be a tall order for the Rockets to lure him from Indianapolis, but it’s certain that they will make a good pitch to him, to leave a mark and make him consider the Rockets for his future.
