The Houston Rockets have cast a wide net in their search for the team's next head coach.

After a tumultuous, drama-ridden 2015-16 season, the franchise clearly wants to get this one right. The team has plenty of talent, but barely squeaked into the playoffs as an eight seed just one year after finishing second in the Western Conference.

Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reported that the team plans to interview San Antonio Spurs assistant coach James Borrego and Orlando Magic assistant coach Adrian Griffin, bringing the number of the Rockets' known interviews to 12.

But according to Feigen's sources, the real decision for the Rockets is expected to come down to two: Mike D'Antoni and Stephen Silas.

D'Antoni, who is currently the associated head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers, has been in the running for awhile, having secured a second interview with the Rockets earlier this week.

Silas, an assistant coach for the Charlotte Hornets, has been a more recent name to pop up, but has quickly been named a favorite for the job.

Per ESPN's Calvin Watkins:

“Silas' two interviews with team officials, the last of which was with owner Leslie Alexander on Thursday, impressed them so much that the team could see hiring him as a head coach to replace Kevin McHale, who was fired 11 games into the season. J.B. Bickerstaff served as the team's interim coach for the rest of the season.”

The 43-year-old has been an assistant in the NBA since 2000, spending time with the New Orleans Hornets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Washington Wizards and Golden State Warriors, in addition to the current Hornets.

If the Rockets don't choose Silas, he'll have at least one other option, as the Warriors want him to return and replace Luke Walton as their top assistant coach, according to the Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.
