Despite yet another superhuman start to the season, Houston Rockets superstar James Harden still has his fair share of critics. The former MVP recently opened up about how he feels about all his detractors, saying that their hate only serves to motivate him even further.

“People can overlook that, or want to talk about the negative things, or the things they feel like they can talk about to belittle what I’m doing,” Harden said, via Mark Medina of USA Today. “But I’ll continue to do it because guess what? I’m not going to stop working.”

Right now, Harden is putting up some absurd numbers with averages of 39.3 points (on 44.8 percent shooting), 5.9 rebounds, 7.5 assists, 2.0 steals, and 0.7 blocks, while also connecting on 5.0 3-pointers per ballgame on a 36.1-percent clip. Those are undoubtedly some head-shaking numbers right there, so at this point, it's really quite difficult to listen to all the nitpicking that is being done on Harden's game.

The seven-time All-Star then further drove his point about the hard work he puts in day in and day out in order to arrive at and maintain this type of elite level of play.

“It doesn’t just happen because it happens,” Harden said. “I work every single day.”

Given how seemingly effortlessly Harden is able put the ball inside the basket, it's almost easy to assume that he possesses an innate, god-given talent to score the basketball at will. However, while this may be true to some extent, his work ethic is second to none, and surely, Harden is a living testament to the saying, “hard work pays off.”
