When someone mentions the Indiana Pacers, you usually think about Reggie Miller, Mel Daniels, Paul George, Jermaine O'Neal, Metta World Peace (Ron Artest) and George McGinnis. These players had successful careers with the Pacers and left their mark on the organization.
However, there have been some players who have suited up for the Pacers that fans sometimes forget about. With that said, we take a look at the five best Indiana players who are forgotten too often.
1. Adrian Dantley
One of the best scorers in NBA history, Adrian Dantley played 23 games for the Pacers during the 1977-78 season before getting traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Hall of Famer averaged 26.5 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists with the franchise.
Since he only played briefly with the Pacers, Dantley technically doesn't qualify for this stat, but he's Indiana's all-time leader in points per game (26.5).
2. Peja Stojakovic
After a stellar run with the Sacramento Kings, Peja Stojakovic was traded to the Pacers on January 25, 2006. The sharpshooter played 40 games for Indiana to close out the 2005-06 season. He was eventually traded to the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets in a sign-and-trade deal in the summer of 2006.
Stojakovic averaged 19.5 points per game with the Pacers while shooting 46.1 percent from the field and 40.4 percent from beyond the arc. He's one of the best shooters in NBA history.
3. Jeff Teague
An Indiana native, Jeff Teague played one season for his hometown Pacers during the 2016-17 season after seven years with the Atlanta Hawks. Indiana won 42 games that campaign but got swept by LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 2017 playoffs. It was Paul George's last season with the team.
Teague averaged 15.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 7.8 assists in 2016-17. He signed a free-agent deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves in the following offseason.
4. Jarrett Jack
Jarrett Jack has played for eight NBA teams, one of them being the Pacers. He was on the team during the 2008-09 season.
Jack averaged 13.1 points, 3.4 boards and 4.1 assists for the Pacers while shooting 45.3 percent from the field, 35.3 percent from beyond the arc and 85.2 percent from the free-throw line. He signed with the Toronto Raptors after his one year in Indiana.
5. John Williamson
A two-time ABA champion, John Williamson played 72 games for the Pacers. The New York Nets traded him to Indiana in 1977. The shooting guard averaged 19.8 points, 2.7 boards and 3.4 assists with the team.
The Pacers wound up trading Williamson to the New Jersey Nets in January of 1978.
