Basketball roots run deep within Indiana Pacers star Domatas Sabonis. His father, Arvydas, was one of the best European players in basketball history, making the Hall of Fame because of his wildly decorated career in overseas competition. He played in the NBA for just seven seasons, all of which came when he was over 30 years old.
Sabonis ascended to NBA stardom in just a few years after being drafted 11th overall in the 2016 draft, showing his abilities with a unique milestone. He passed his father in career points, rebounds and assists in the NBA, achieving the feat in over 150 fewer games.

Domantas and Arvydas will likely go down as one of the best father-son duos in league history, especially if Domantas continues to play at a high level. Indiana's star big man is averaging 19.1 points, 12.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists while shooting 57.7 percent from the field this season.
Sabonis achieved most of his stats with the Pacers after spending his rookie season with the Oklahoma City Thunder. As the Pacers continue to lose, he will likely keep adding to his stats with another team. It would take significant assets for Indiana to part with him. Trading him away is something the franchise needs to consider. Although he wouldn't be a good fit with his father's former team, the Portland Trail Blazers, his playmaking and interior scoring could make him a hot commodity.
Indiana is 18-32 this season, good enough for just 13th place in the Eastern Conference. Sabonis' accomplishment is a nice distraction from their miserable season.
