With the Sacramento Kings now looking to the future, it appears they have a high interest in trading some of the veterans on their roster. The name from Sacramento that is most commonly heard in trade chatter is George Hill's. On Monday's episode of ESPN's The Jump, NBA insider Brian Windhorst spoke about potential trades for the Cleveland Cavaliers and commented on Hill's situation with the Kings. Windhorst said:
“The Sacramento Kings are having talks with other teams right now to clear roster spots, some of their younger players that they want to send away, because I think they're getting poised to make a deal where they send George Hill out & bring some players back in.”
Earlier today, Windhorst appeared again, where he said Hill to the Cavs was practically at the one-yard line. Previous reports about other veterans and the relationship between Hill and the organization seem to be in line with what Windhorst said. Last month, Hill voiced displeasure due to the Kings' underwhelming performances. Apparently, the Kings had promised him and fellow veteran Zach Randolph a playoff run if they signed in Sacramento. It is hard to believe there is some truth in this report, as even with all of the Kings' free agent acquisitions, it was clear they are not headed for much success.

Also, about a week ago, Kings head coach David Joerger stated that the team was starting to rest two or three veterans every game in favor of giving their young players more playing time and a better opportunity to get valuable experience. This is also related to the Kings officially tanking for the second half of the regular season in hopes of landing a top lottery pick. Hill, a 10-year veteran, has only missed the playoffs once in his career.
Do not be surprised if you see Hill wearing a different uniform by the Feb. 8 trade deadline.
