Kristaps Porzingis can sympathize with Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball. The New York Knicks star knows what it’s like for a family member to say something controversial. Although in Porzingis’ case, his brother/agent just made one misguided statement as opposed to Ball, whose father LaVar is almost constantly calling attention to his family.

According to the New York Post's Fred Kerber, Porzingis feels Lonzo might not want all that attention his dad is heaping on him and believes it’s not easy to be in his situation.

“He has all this attention, and I don’t know if he wants it that much. But it’s hard to be in his skin. It’s hard to imagine being in his skin. He has great talent, and I think as he gets more comfortable in the league, he will be just fine.”

Judging by Ball’s cool and laid back demeanor, which is the complete antithesis of his father, it sure looks as if Porzingis’ observation of Ball not craving all the attention is on base. He’d rather focus on playing basketball, which he’s unfortunately not doing quite as well at the moment.

Most people can only imagine how it feels to be a 19-year-old trying to work out some struggles while a media circus is constantly blaring around him. But as Ball grows older, he will likely find some way to block out the noise and concentrate more on his basketball career.
