The New York Knicks' hopes of upsetting the Golden State Warriors tonight have dramatically fallen. USA Today Network's Steve Popper reports the Knicks' star big man Kristaps Porzingis will sit against the Warriors after twisting his knee yesterday:

Besides Porzingis, the Knicks will also play without backup center Kyle O'Quinn. To make things worse, the Knicks play at Oracle Arena, which may be the hardest arena to play at while on the road. The Knicks will have to dig deeper into their big men rotation against Golden State. Expect Willy Hernangomez, Michael Beasley, Enes Kanter and maybe even Joakim Noah to get a bump in minutes. Porzingis and O'Quinn combine to average 50 minutes per game, so there is a lot of room for said players to get their time.

The Knicks will mostly miss Porzingis' scoring ability. In 41 games this season, the young Latvian star averages 23.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and a league-leading 2.3 blocks per game on 43.6 percent shooting from the field and 38.5 percent from behind the three-point line. Porzingis has scored 15 or more points in all but one of his last 16 games. Also, during those 16 games, he averages three blocks per game. He has recorded four or more blocks in one-fourth of those games. Tim Hardaway Jr. returning to the lineup after a long absence has not appeared to slow Kristaps down at all.

This will be Porzingis' seventh missed game of the season. The last time he missed a game was on December 12, 2017. The next chance he has to play is Thursday when the Knicks visit the Denver Nuggets.
