Although it ended in a loss for the Los Angeles Lakers, the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers Thursday night was still a memorable one, especially to the young guns of the Purple and Gold.

Perhaps even more so for Lakers sophomore forward Brandon Ingram, who had a little tête-à-tête with Cavaliers superstar right following the game’s conclusion.

Lakers guard Lonzo Ball also had a small talk with James, but didn’t reveal what they discussed about, unlike Ingram, who had no problem telling reporters the content of his chitchat with the four-time MVP, per Bill Oram of So Cal News Group.

Against the Cavaliers, Ingram dropped a team-high 26 points on an efficient 10-of-15 shooting from the floor, and it definitely left an impression on James.

James is clearly an admirer of Ingram’s body of work this season. He mentioned Ingram’s improvement, which is among the most noticeable part of his second year in the NBA. Ingram averaged just 9.4 points per game on 40.2 percent shooting from the field in his rookie season. This year, he’s upped his numbers to 15.8 points on 44.3 field goal shooting percentage.

Ingram is still just 20, so we’re far from seeing him realize his full potential of the former Duke Blue Devil. Hearing some encouraging words in person from a future Hall of Famer such as James should help Ingram improve his game.
