Dwyane Wade didn't only pat his own shoulder after scoring an unreal bucket over Los Angeles Lakers rookie darling Lonzo Ball, who played a few seconds of top-notch defense before Flash responded in a heroic way.
The Miami Heat legend took to Instagram to soak in a special moment from the mid-point of the second quarter, reliving the magic at American Airlines Arena.
“The Defense on this play is as good as it gets (Lonzo)… just an old guy going deep deep into his bag of tricks,” wrote Wade in the caption. “The next generation of players in our league are special. I’m just glad to have a few moments against them now #36andstillgoing.”

Ball's footwork here is great, keeping up with each and every one of Wade's movements, until the cagey veteran hit him with yet another shoulder fake, which caused Ball to guess wrong, leap in the air, and allow Wade to hit a less-contested turnaround jumper over his right shoulder, releasing a rainbow mid-range shot that nicked the backboard slightly before dropping right into the hoop.
While this is a very tough move to pull off on the daily, Wade has hit a few of them in his career — but this one holds a special meaning upon his return to South Beach, and being able to do it in front of the home crowd cheering him on.
If there's one thing this new generation will carry with them is an already old concept — better offense always beats good defense.
